My Passion For Cooking
My first recollections of having a passion for food was when I was a kid and my grandmother used to make delicious food and when she was cooking the different ingredients filled the home with delightful aromas.
Sometimes she used to let me help her bake the cakes and I had to mix the sugar and the butter with my hand, this was a lot of fun and latter I got to eat the leftover in the bowl. I have wonderful memories in the kitchen, always wanted to try everything and rob a something from the fridge; good thing I was skinny and loved to run.
I remember when we used to go visit some family that lived in the farm, the smells of eggs in fresh butter and warm chocolate milk was so different from anything in the city; but I had this that when I’m traveling everything taste different and better. I always have been an adventurous eater, any place that I went I tried their specialty and their rarest dish, crocodile, gene pigs, ants, horse meat, turtle, love all sushi and raw meats.
I tell my wife that I’m a chef and I can spend four hours preparing lasagna, she asks me if I have to stay in the kitchen watching the food cook when I’m doing a paella or something else. I love cooking, it relaxes me, I use my imagination and creativity and the ingredients are alive, they have their own character and they talk to you, for example mushrooms like butter and they say so. My wife says I’m crazy, but they talk to me.
I love watching the chefs teach about cooking in the TV, different foods for many places in the world and different ways of cooking, keep filing up in my head. When I’m going to cook something I have a picture in my head, if I don’t have all the ingredients I improvise, most of the time I’m satisfied, my wife says I don’t know about this today. What is your calling, mission or passion?
We are all different, and that is good, everybody in the planet wants to be different and to be approved of how they see the world and they have a deep interest in doing something special. Our belief system gets changed a lot when we are young by our parents, our teachers and even our friends, but there is always something that we see in a certain way, different that other people and that we want to fallow and explore further; that can be our calling our mission or our passion.
Our calling can be something more spiritual, like wanting to follow a certain religion or philosophy; is when your life story influences your work to wanting to change the world to the better. Our mission is something that we create latter on in life when you have the assurance what is we want to do with our lives mostly in leading other to something meaningful. But our passion is when we connect to a why and this unlocks our deepest emotions, our passion can makes us actors, artists or chefs, but in each of our creations we leave a piece of our souls.
Your main goal is to turn your passion into a career
But making sure is something that you love and you enjoy so much is not work anymore, but you get paid for it. We have to make sure is not just something that you like; at one time in my life I liked to make flower arrangements for my church, they got better every time. But when I decided to make it into a business I did not love it anymore it was too much work.
When you discover the precious treasure that is your passion you can never lose sight if it. You don’t have to be the best in the eyes of everyone else but you need to please yourself, do your best and enjoy every minute of it.
When you have the fortune to be able to turn it into a career you will have the time of your life, getting paid for something you love to do.
